The Fort of Breendonk is always on the lookout for new guides.
A team of over 60 guides accompanies up to 400 groups monthly within the fort. Guides conduct tours in Dutch, French, German, English, and Spanish.
Guides work either as freelancers or with volunteer status.
To keep the guide pool active and up-to-date, a training day is provided for new guides twice a year (March and October).
In the morning, you will gain insight into the basic guiding techniques for the fort, and in the afternoon, there will be a tour of the site. Candidates can further expand their knowledge through a literature list. After a month, a 'trial guide session' is scheduled with necessary feedback, and one month later, an 'exam guide session' takes place, with the possibility of a retest.

Visit the Fort Breendonk!
The National Memorial of Fort Breendonk is one of the best-preserved testimonials of the Second World War Nazi atrocities.
A captivating visit highlights the sinister page in history that the SS-Auffanglager Breendonk truly is. From the gloomy dormitories and forced labour sites to the torture chamber and the execution ground: the fort exudes the horror the prisoners were subjected to during German occupation.
Through testimonials, pictures and film footage you meet the men and women who suffered and sacrificed their lives for our liberty.
